The Adventure Gaming Periodical - Issue #9 - Return to Perinthos and Advanced Rules
Luke Gearing has joined Return to Perinthos!
Hello!
The Adventure Gaming Periodical is a back after a holiday and life hiatus. I’ll be back to posting regular content, and this will still be the location for our Micro Subs Microgame subscription. We’ll be moving to publishing at least once a month and at most once per week. A weekly deadline proved too much for me this Fall.
Luke Gearing Joins Return to Perinthos!
I am currently organizing a Jennell Jaquays Memorial Game Jam and Fundraiser to help raise funds for Jennell Jaquays’s family medical and funeral expenses and for Trans Lifeline. As part of this process, I have spoken with specific individuals about contributing to this project, and I’m super excited to announce that the fabulous Luke Gearing has graciously taken on some writing on this project, with special thanks to his employer Tuesday Knight Games.
Luke will be writing a short setting for Return to Perinthos. He will help us to establish how and why disparate maps running the gamut from Ancient Greece to a traditional dungeon to a spaceship to a Quake level are all found together in a megadungeon in ancient Thracia. We’re so excited that Luke is able to volunteer his time for this project to help us make something beautiful.
Call for Volunteers for Return to Perinthos
We are looking for people to help move Return to Perinthos from a game jam to a book. We will need writers, editors, illustrators, and graphic designers to help us assemble the book. If you’d like to contribute spot art for the book, you may provide it this way rather than as part of the jam. You can volunteer at the following link:
As we are assembling the book after the jam, we will hold a Crowdfundr for this book where all profits (donations - printing costs) will be donated to Jennell Jaquays’s family. We are working with retailers and distributors to sell copies with profits donated to Trans Lifeline as part of this print run. More details about this will follow in the coming couple of weeks.
Press Coverage for the Jennell Jaquays Memorial Game Jam
We appreciate the support we have gotten in sharing the word about the game jam! These are articles that have been published about the jam. We appreciate everyone spreading the word to gain support!
Advanced Rules Live on BackerKit Crowdfunding
Before starting this memorial for Jennell Jaquays, I had been preparing for this crowdfunding launch for Advanced Rules on BackerKit Crowdfunding for a few months, and my release date was set. I feel strange promoting my crowdfunding campaign is this time of grief, but I do still have a business I need to run at the same time I am volunteering my time. However, I will be donating 5% of the profits from the Advanced Rules crowdfunding to Jennell Jaquays’s family as my monetary contribution to the game jam and memorial.
With that out of the way, after our first day of crowdfunding, we have raised $2,683 from 100 backers in our first 24 hours. This is 77% of our total funding needed to pay for editing and a small print run, so this is a really solid first day. This is a more niche book made for experienced Wardens and module designers, so the level of support we have seen for a print run has been refreshing. Not everyone wants or needs 100 pages of alternate rules. If this book is for you, it’s REALLY for you.
